English meaning

English Translation: O mind! Sing the praises of compassionate Lord Ramachandra, who eradicates the terrible fear of worldly existence; His eyes resemble fresh lotus blossoms, His face is like a lotus, His hands and feet are like red lotuses. His beauty surpasses countless Cupids, lovely like a fresh blue rain-bearing lotus; His yellow garments shine like pure lightning; I bow to the noble consort of Janaka's daughter Sita! Sing of the friend of the humble, radiant like the sun, destroyer of the lineage of demons; Delight of the Raghu clan, source of all bliss, moon of Kosala, beloved son of Dasharatha! Upon His head rests a crown, earrings grace His ears, an auspicious tilak upon His forehead, His noble limbs decorated; His long arms reach to His knees, holding bow and arrows, victorious over demons Khara and Dushana! Thus prays Tulsidas: O Delighter of Shiva, Sheshnag, and the sages, Reside forever in the lotus of my heart, vanquishing desire and all negative passions! Devotional Significance: Composed by Goswami Tulsidas in the 16th century, this timeless Sanskrit-Awadhi stuti from Vinaya Patrika is the definitive hymn celebrating the compassionate beauty of Lord Rama.
